The school will have high tech facilities including a state-of-the-art IT infrastructure and technology lab; up to nine fully equipped science laboratories; a fully resourced resource centre and library, which will be used to facilitate independent learning, research skills and develop students’ knowledge of literature and love of reading. A grand theatre at the centre of the school will showcase student talents and achievements amongst other school, parent and community activities
We hold parent’s evenings in order to give parents the opportunity to meet with teachers. In addition, we send home two reports a year. We have an open door policy and parents are welcome to make an appointment to see your child’s teacher at a mutually convenient time throughout the school year to discuss the student’s academic and social development. All staff have a strong commitment to working in partnership with parents and will ensure they record any notable progress and achievement
On behalf of all the staff of Liwa International School – Al Mushrif, I would like to extend a warm welcome to you. I am delighted to be the Founding Principal of the first Liwa school to open in Abu Dhabi.
After establishing two highly successful school in Al Ain, Liwa International School and Liwa International School for Girls, we are excited to be branching out to the UAE capital to offer the same high standards of education in our third school. I have worked with Liwa Schools for the past 4 years and was proud to be the Founding Principal of the first all-girls school in Al Ain. I have trained to be a school inspector with the British Schools of the Middle East, as well as AdvancED, the American school accreditors. I qualified as a Principal by achieving my National Professional Qualification of Headship from the UK and recently completed my Masters in Educational Leadership and Management. Prior to working in Liwa Schools, I was the Head Teacher of two large international schools in Abu Dhabi and I have extensive experience of working with staff, parents and students from different cultures and nationalities. I have a passion for education and take a great deal of pride in the achievements of the students from every school I have worked in. The majority of my experience has been working with students that have English as an additional language and helping them to have adequate support to reach their potential.
At LISM, we strive to provide an outstanding international education that challenges and inspires our students to excel. We believe in an approach that instills a love of learning where students can thrive and achieve their very best as independent learners. We understand that children are different and their strengths lie in different areas – academic, athletic, creative to name a few. Our students will be taught to analyze, reason and reflect, giving them the skills needed to progress and to be successful in any area. For that reason, we provide a child-centered approach to education taking into consideration each child’s differentiated needs and individual learning styles.
Our teachers are hired internationally through reputable recruitment companies to ensure we appoint staff of the highest standard and with the right blend of enthusiasm, knowledge and experience to help our students achieve their best. We will provide an engaging learning environment where teachers can facilitate a holistic approach to learning that provides children with a wide range of opportunities, both in and out of the classroom, which promote their social and academic development. The broad and balanced curriculum will be taught in a cross-curricular approach, underpinned by core skills, to ensure progress and depth of learning.
It is also very important at LISM that our students develop and grow into outstanding citizens who are moral, respectful, have a strong sense of identity and embrace UAE culture and values. In today’s rapidly changing and challenging world, we believe it to be the school’s responsibility to foster a life-long love of learning and a sense of responsible citizenship. Our curriculum is designed to develop the understanding, skills and attitudes that support this. We place a large emphasis on developing leadership qualities and supporting our students to use these qualities to impact the community, the UAE and the world positively. Our students will be encouraged to be active in the community to build an understanding of the local culture as well as each person’s social responsibilities.
Partnership with parents is key to students reaching their potential. We believe in open communication for parents to express their thoughts and ideas on their child’s school experiences and support us in our future development. We also encourage parent participation in the classroom and on school trips to foster a relationship between parents and the school. We also welcome feedback through our regular parent meetings, parent questionnaires and suggestion boxes.
I look forward to an exciting new academic year ahead and to getting to know you all better.
